There are germs everywhere in our everyday lives. They are in the air we breathe, the food we eat, the water we drink, and everything we touch. Diseases spread very easily from person to person. The Immune System is the body's complex system to fight these foreign that carry diseases, also know as pathogens. Some defenses are barriers to block pathogens from coming in, others confront the bacteria. The immune system defense the body in a nonspecific way by attacking anything foreign, but also by identifying invaders that they are countered before and attacking them specifically.
The immune system is necessary for the life function regulation. A disease is ay condition that prevents the body from working as it should, and as a result, the body may fail to maintain homeostasis. The immune system maintains homeostasis by fighting off the disease.

The immune system interacts with the respiratory system to maintain homeostasis. A passage way for pathogens to enter is through pathways of the respiratory system. To protect the body, the respiratory system (specifically the nose and the lungs) have mucus to trap pathogens from entering. It also interacts with the digestive system because another passage way for pathogens to enter is through food from the mouth. Stomach acid kills most bacteria that live on the food we eat and water we drink.
